ELIZABETH PIAZZA, M.A.

Elizabeth founded Piazza Fine Art in 2016 with a desire to provide her clients with the highest caliber of fine and decorative art services. As President of the firm, Elizabeth draws on her deep expertise in the art market to specialize in objective advice on the collection management, care, acquisition and deaccession of fine and decorative art objects; and to produce confidential appraisals in full compliance with USPAP and IRS guidelines for reasons of insurance, donation, damage or loss, family division, estate tax and planning, and art as collateral.

Prior to establishing PFA, Elizabeth spent over 5 years as a New York City director of an immense private collection of blue-chip and emerging contemporary art and 20th century design objects. Primarily dealing in the care and collection management of more than 3,000 artworks including the administering of loans, and negotiating purchases and sales of artworks by American Pop artists such as Andy WarholJean-Michel Basquiat and Tom Wesselmann; Elizabeth also curated an online sales platform for the collection focused on mid-career contemporary artists such as Os GemeosEnoc Perez and Adam McEwen. During this time, Elizabeth was also responsible for coordinating exhibitions for the Lever House Art Collection, including installations by Urs Fischer, Jonas Wood, The Bruce High Quality Foundation, and Paula Hayes.  

Elizabeth holds a 2015 Certificate from New York University in the Appraisal Studies of Fine and Decorative Art. She earned her Master's of Arts degree Magna Cum Laude in Modern Art, History of the Art Market and Connoisseurship from Christie's Education, New York in 2010, after matriculating from Villanova University in 2009 with dual Bachelor's of Arts degrees in Art History and French, Cum Laude, having spent her 2007-2008 year studying at La Sorbonne and L'Institute Catholique in Paris, France.  

Elizabeth served on the Founding Board of Directors of NJ MoCA from 2014-2016. In 2016, she acted as a juror for Christie's Education Emerging Artist Prize. She is an Associate of the Appraiser’s Association of America, a Circle Member of ArtTable, and a Founding Contemporaries Patron of the Whitney Museum of American Art. Elizabeth also acts a Fundraising Chair for the New York Junior League, a women's volunteer organization committed to community, arts and education programming in Manhattan.

Elizabeth's long-cultivated passion for the arts, coupled with her unique combination of rigorous academic and veteran market training, allows her to deliver specialized services and unparalleled discretion and expertise to her dedicated gallery, museum and private clientele. Thoughtful scholarship and critical thinking are at the core of Elizabeth's appraisal and advisory work, guided by her vast knowledge in the field which she intuitively orients to her clients' goals and aesthetic.

Piazza Fine Art​ specializes in confidential certified appraisals, compliant with both Internal Revenue Service guidelines and Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP),  for all purposes, including:

Appraisals are available both in digital and hard copy.  For each object appraised, all documents include color digital images and full cataloguing, with values supported by relevant market comparables.
